Ron and I decided that Idaho's capitol is the most beautiful. There were no metal detectors for us to walk through and we saw no locked doors in the common places. A guard stated that the capitol is for the people and the "people" did not see a need for metal detectors nor to have the doors to the Senate and House of Representatives locked. The atmosphere of the capitol was one of calmness and welcoming. It was hard to choose what pictures to share.(this state seal is a rug at the entrance of the Senate)
The capitol was completely restored in 2007 and to update the building to house all the
business that needs to be taken care of, a west and east wing were added underground.
We have been on the road almost 13 months and today was the first time we
experimented with our camera to take time delayed pictures!! It worked wonderful.
This is the underground west wing's sky light and the east wing has the same sky lights.
Senate- At the capitol in Nevada we learned that the colors in the
Senate were decorated in red to depict royalty (as in England)
This is the gallery for the citizens to sit and listen when the Senate is in session.
Our timed delayed camera in use!!
House of Representatives is decorated in blue for the common folks.
Another time delay!! Love that camera!!
The architecture and the carving of the marble of this capitol was absolutely beautiful. The picture of the steps below on the right is at the very top of the dome-an entrance to the most outside dome.
This view is looking up to the dome.
This is the view of the rotunda floor (down)
Ron commented to me as we were leaving what a cool police car-it is too cool for a police vehicle!!
We head to Burns, Oregon tomorrow-a little closer to home!!
