Missouri State Capital and golf May 4th, 2012

Our tee time for this public course was at 0730 on Friday May 4th, but we went off at 0700.  When we called the man that answered the phone said "it was kinda hilly " Kinda hilly we can walk but this course was only "kinda hilly" from a mountain goats perspective. This course was by far the nicest course we have played yet and the price was right $26.00 for a cart and both of us for 9 holes.Doesn't get any better than that.

This capital in Jefferson City, Missouri has no main entrance, all four sides have an entrance that are beautiful with a balcony all the way around. We went in the  East entrance and behind us was this unique fountain-the Missouri river is behind the fountain.

Each capital has a hall of fame somewhere in the building-this capital had 2 halls of fame-gorgeous pictures of each of the past governors as well as bronze busts of their citizens to include, Walt Disney, Mark Twain and Dwight Eisenhower to name just a few. The bronze busts were paid for by different senate leaders, at the time, with the proceeds of the yearly golf tournament.

The dome was just beautiful, but we could not go all the way to the top.

Anybody that knows me, knows that I will ask anyone to take our picture. I asked this very nicely dressed man in a suit, he was very agreeable and we started to visit. He asked us about our trip and I asked him what he did " I am senior state Representative-would you like to go in the senate chambers and look around?' He was a kind gentle man that also was a farmer and had 250+ cows that he fed both in the morning and at night.

He invited us to his office and we visited for about 45 minutes-no politics-just talking about his family and farm and we talked about our family and our current journey. He gave us his card and said that if we were in the area again we should call and we "could get together and have a steak"

We had a great day-but I could not blog it at that time because our Internet connection was really poor.
