Baltimore by land and by sea

We left for Baltimore this am around 9 and the temp was already 86 degrees. We were in for sticker shock when we saw how much parking was...but we had no choice, the other parking options were only for 2 hours and our plan was to be in the downtown area about 4-5 hours. When we left the downtown area the temp was 100 degrees!! really hot and humid.

We took a 90 minutes narrated trolley tour of downtown and it was very interesting although it was supposed to be air conditioned, but yikes it sure didn't feel like it was working. We were a pool of sweat by the time we were done and we still had the "sea" part of our day to go.

The happy tourists on the trolley.

View of one of the waterways in down town.

Downtown Art

This is the building that the series "Homicide" used for their police station.
That man is not a prop-he is having a serious nap.

This is the actual size of the flag that flew over Fort McHenry (30ft x 42ft)

A piece of art outside an art museum-we did not have time
to see the museum-maybe our next visit to Baltimore.

Seeing Baltimore by sea

Big $ is moored or tied to the piers in the waterfront of Baltimore

Huge Merchant Marine ships moored in the inner harbor.

Fort McHenry where the 30ft x 42ft flag flew that inspired Frances Scott Key to write
the words for our national anthem, as the British Navy bombarded the Fort in 1814.
