Miami Culinary Tour--Southbeach Miami 12.13.12

Prior to our culinary tour we spent a few hours walking in along the beach and South Beach.
The weather was warm with just a bit of wind.

These 2 pictures above were taken from the beach side toward the city,  there was blocks and blocks of these type of restaurants and bars, South Beach is the Art Deco capital of the world. We saw fascinating architecture and art work in very uncommon places-art was everywhere, to include different shapes and different colors from anything from floor design to furniture and wall hanging. We had such a great time!! We are certainly learning and enjoying our journey.

Our tour guide for the South Beach Food Tour was delightful and so knowledgeable of all of the different ethnic restaurants, the foods and recipes  that we were served and ate.

The first course of our dinner was white fish that was lightly cooked with lime juice and other spices. It was food that non of us had ever eaten, but it was ok and we are glad we experienced it.

Another course of our dinner was deep fried Cuban bread with a chicken ? served over the top. The food on the right is a deep fried green plantain banana. Both were absolutely fabulous.!

Anther stop was a Colombian bar, this soda is mixed with a light red wine a and served during dinner. Ron tasted it and said it was "OK,"  Adam, Aziz and I gave ours to other members on the tour.

The main course was served at Larios on the Beach. It consisted of brown rice, pork and red beans, with a side of flank steak in a tomato based sauce (not pictured). The best part of this course was the plantain bananas that were prepared with honey and deep fried. YUMMY

We did not eat at this Japanese restaurant, but we toured the lobby. The pictures does not do it justice, it was so perfect, it looked like a picture out of magazine. This room just oozed $$$$

This piece of art was about 12 feet square. This is Andy Warhol made with  the small flavored creamers.(bottoms) I am in awe of all artists and the many mediums used to portray art.
