Colorado-capitol-Denver 8.5.13

At one time this Colorado state seal was carpet in the Governor's office, it now hangs in the governor's reception room. The current capitol is going thru extensive remodeling in the dome.
Old supreme court, it is now used for a meeting room.
The railings are made of brass and they are being polished constantly. They are just
beautiful-this picture does not do them justice. Hanging all over the capitol were quilts
on display, they were all just beautiful. As we entered the capitol a women
had set up an information booth and info on each quilt and a voting card.

 Senate
 House of Representatives
At the front entrance of the capitol, engraved in one of the steps it says "you are a mile high." In the last ten years 2 different groups-University of Colorado and a credited geological survey puts the mile high spot on 2 other locations. The 2 shiny round objects behind us is what those 2 groups depict  where it is a mile high. The capitol step with the saying on it is between those 2 shiny objects.
