Colorado-Denver- candy and whiskey 8.5.13

We stopped at Colorado's visitor center and this horse was there to greet us.
We set off in the am to tour this Candy Factory- A 20 minute trip took us about 30 minutes due to road construction and our GPS did not know what to do. We drove around awhile to find it, but it was really worth it. The tour was good and the candy was scrumptious.
All of this candy is handmade daily. It was tuff, but we only bought a little bit.
To the right of these workers a hunk of candy weighing about 30
pounds is put in a machine, stretched out and the workers cut it
into a specific length and a slight bend at the end to make candy canes.

These hand made spiral candy cane Christmas trees are being hand packaged for shipment.
It was a great tour and we would highly recommend it, if you are in Denver.

We took a tour of the Stranahan's Whiskey distillery. It was very informative
and our tour guide was a hoot! It was her first tour and she was so fun!

The whiskey is aged from 1-5 years prior to being bottled.
To get the whiskey from the last process into the barrels a specialty food nozzle (exactly like the gas nozzles that we use at the gas pumps) pumps the whiskey into specially prepared barrels.

At the end of the tour the group was offered samples-we passed, we wanted to go home for lunch.
