In each port that we entered, we were greeted by the local authorities and escorted in. This boat had the colors of Mexico!! The view from our deck was so beautiful prior to our landing, the city was at peace.
I am always amazed how big and beautiful the cruise ship is when I look at it.
We took a bus tour of "Chiapas through the ages." We saw the new city and some parts of the old city. The picture below is of church pews on their side in an old church. The statue below is one of Mexico's presidents, he was a poor farm boy and rose to the president through hard work and faith. He is hero to all of Mexico.
These stairs are located in the old city hall building, the young ladies are wearing traditional Chiapas dresses. A woman that I met on the ship bought the dress on the left for $125, for her birthday celebration. The dresses were just beautiful and the colors so vivid.
On our way to the National Institute of History, there were tables and tables of Chiapas wares for sale. The Institute of History was very small but the artifacts were priceless.
On our way to the Izapa Ruins we saw this shoe store!! what a way to advertise!!
Another item on our bucket list was to see Mayan ruins. These ruins brought tears to my eyes, I couldn't believe that we were actually seeing them. It was another highlight to our cruise.
These ruins were found accidentally by a road crew that were making a new highway. It is most famous for its abundance of carved stelae and stone monuments depicting a variety of animals , winged objects and long lipped gods. It was a fun and memorable day.
