San Francisco September 8, 2014-Alcatraz and Fishermans Wharf.

Our tickets for Alcatraz were for 9:10. We left the rig at 6:15 drove to the BART, caught the train, walked a few blocks, caught a city bus and arrived at the pier at 8:00. We were early, but it gave us a chance to have a donut and people watch.

Included in the ticket price was a radio that provided us with a detailed description of the facilities and the inmates. It was very interesting and well worth the money and the time. The showers below was a group experience for the inmates!!! and the line to the right of the showers is for the radio's and headphones.

We were so glad to be just guests, can't imagine spending any real time in a 5 x 7 x 9 jail cell, let alone on Alcatraz island.

This building was the private house where the four different wardens lived.

Good bye Alcatraz!!
When we got back to the pier, we walked to Fisherman's wharf and had a wonderful lunch.
Ron had fresh cod and chips.
I had clam chowder in a fresh sour dough bowl. yummm!!!

Then we walked to Ghirardelli square and had a ice cream sundae for desert. In fact we each had one!! oink oink!! It was so good!!

  1. Awesome! The area where we were both born (not Alcatraz!). We loved seeing these photos.
