Our trip from Ukiah was uneventful until we got to the exit of the Golden Gate bridge. We drove thru miles and miles of green vineyards and the sky was beautiful and the views from the Golden Gate bridge were breath taking.
When we got to the San Francisco end of the bridge, there were old toll booths, that in my opinion were very poorly marked. When we came to where we needed to drive through, I did not think that the lane marked trucks and large vehicles was for us..Yikes was I wrong, to get through the lane that I chose Ron had to pull in his side mirror and we only had 2-3 inches on either side of the rig..
Our RV site was just above the water and these wind kites with people hanging off of them were common place. We decided that is not on our bucket list!!
The parking lot for the BART( Bay Area Rail Transit) was about 2 miles from our park and it was very easy for us to get into the city.
On our first day in the city we decided to tour on the On/Off Big Bus. It was a great way to get the big picture of the city. When we were done with the tour we decided to explore the cable cars.. They were crowded and it took us a long time to get on and then when we got to Fisherman's wharf we had to get off and get in line to ride back. The cable car experience took us several hours. But, it was so worth it.!!
Hanging on the outside of the cable car. So fun, but it was a white knuckle experience for me.
After the cable car experience we went to Sears Fine Dinning for lunch, I had Dungeness crab chowder and Ron had a Reuben sandwich. The food was super good-although the Dungeness crab at home is much better-the crab in the chowder was tasty but stringy and difficult to chew.
