Today was our day to visit Montana's state capital, we did a self guided tour, the only scheduled tours are on Saturdays starting May 1. The weather was cool and slightly windy, but NO RAIN!! It was actually clear and sunny. In the picture below we are standing by a famous Montana statesman, but I have already forgotten his name.
This is a stained glass window that faces the South and the sun was shining bright and all the colors were so vivid.
The sun was shining in the wrong direction to get a better picture, but trying to coordinate taking pictures dependent on where the sun is shining is way beyond my skill. That would mean timing our visits based on the sun.. Not going to happen...way to stressful.
This bell was on the 3rd floor of the capital building and donated by a private party to celebrate Montana's 100 th year. The art work on the ceilings was gorgous. The columns to my right are made of plaster, to look like marble, and they look and feel just like marble.
Across the street from the capitol was a very informative and nicely done Montana museum. I was pleasently surprised when I looked at my watch and we had been in there for greater that 2 hours.
We are heading to Hardin MT tomorrow AM, our tour destination is Custer's Last Stand..
