Indiana capital and tour of Indianpolis race tract

May 31, 2012 we started our day with visiting the capital of Indiana in Indianapolis. This is the only state so far that did not provide free parking for their visitors. The capital building is situated in  down town and parking is at a premium, we could not even find a parking garage, so we  parked on the street with a parking meter. When we were walking toward the capital I asked a young lady to take our picture. (the one below). We started to visit and she said she was the assistant to the state attorney, she invited us to come to her office and take a tour. (which we did). She was a lovely young woman who gave us a wonderful tour of the office and history of the attorney generals office.

Senate chambers-each desk has the American and Disabled American flags sitting on them and the state emblem is prominent in the background.
When the capital was renovated in the 80's there was no money to replace the handrails or the pillars with marble. They used steal for the top on the rail and wood for the pillars, painted it to look like marble and wood.

We are ready-just need a sponsor

When this pagoda was first built, it was made of wood, now it is all glass and steel. This is where the communication is managed and some of the corporate suites are located. We toured this building and saw some of the suites-they rent for $100, 000 for a space for 38-40 people. The food, drinks etc. are all an additional cost.

A golf course view from inside the tract.
Standing on the starting and finishing line-still with the bricks-This is where the pictures of the drivers are taken when the are kissing the "brick yard"

This is actually where the winners pictures are taken..

This was also in the museum, I thought it was interesting because of the ties with Olympia.
