After experiencing the "duck walk" we headed for the new capitol and oh
my gosh it was raining like we were home!! Before we were even out of our car we
knew that the House and Senate were in session, but we couldn't find any one outside to
take our picture on the steps-which was ok-cause it was really rainy and windy!!
The sergeant of arms allowed us to look quickly at the Senate floor.
It was such a surprise that the stairwell was empty when we found someone to take our picture.
Not only was the House and Senate in session-it was a special day for
children that are homeschooled to come to the capitol. As you can see
from the photo below-it was really crowed in some areas.
This capitol was really beautiful-but the people were not nearly as friendly as Mississippi.
The Senate chambers
This photo area is above the Senate-looking down on the Senate floor.
I was somewhat disappointed touring the old state house-Some of it was done very nice, but the most of it was about "growing up in Arkansas", and done with many many small school type photos.
Old Senate - each desk was set-up with an oil lamp
We are getting to go in the am to Oklahoma,
with our fingers crossed to avoid a snow storm.
